About Us – Civic Scoop Kenya
The Problem: Ignorance of our Civic Rights is Oppressing Us
For too long, the ordinary mwananchi has been kept in the dark about their civic rights. Yet the Constitution of Kenya 2010 is one of the most progressive in the world. Sadly, most Kenyans have never read it.
Not because we can’t understand it – but because civic education has been made complicated, boring, or simply unavailable.
This ignorance is not an accident. And it has cost us as Kenyans.
When you don’t know your rights, you can be cheated. When you don’t understand devolution, you cannot hold your county officers accountable.
When you don’t know election rules, your vote loses its power. Uninformed citizens are easy to oppress.
We decided that had to change.
Who We Are
We are a team of Kenyan legal professionals and civic education activists who refuse to stand by while our fellow citizens are oppressed because of lack of information.
We are not politicians. We do not belong to any party. We are not here to tell you who to vote for or what to believe.
We are here to give you facts – the plain, accurate text of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010 – explained in a way that makes sense for your daily life.
And we want to make it easy to learn. Through simple language, practical guides, templates, and even puzzles and games that help you understand better and even teach it to others.
What We Believe
- The Constitution belongs to every Kenyan – not just lawyers, judges or politicians.
- Civic education must be simple – The legal jargon must always be explained with examples.
- Neutrality is our duty – we report what the law says, not what we wish it said.
- Learning can be fun – why not have fun learning the Constitution with quizzes and crossword puzzles?
- Knowledge must be shared – the more citizens who understand their rights, the harder we are to oppress as citizens.
